Boutique and smaller law firms that have advised President-elect Donald Trump and his allies may be among the legal counsel who benefit when he takes office in January.
The firms backed conservative causes and “collected former Trump administration officials,” Law360 reports. Their connections “may lend them some influence with Trump’s new administration and give their lawyers a head start when Trump chooses political appointments for a second-term.”
Law360 reported that these firms were in the mix.
* The Dhillon Law Group. This firm, led by Harmeet dhillon, has represented the Trump Campaign in election lawsuits. It has also represented the Republican National Committee and Trump in various legal matters. The firm is responsible for handling some election matters on behalf of the RNC. This includes a successful suit that prevented Mississippi from counting votes after Election Day. The firm represented Trump in a number of cases, including one alleging that Trump violated the emoluments provision by accepting payments from foreign governments to his businesses. The firm represented Trump in his first two presidential campaigns, and represents the RNC currently in several cases. John Gore was the acting director of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division during the Trump administration. Law360 reports that Don McGahn served as White House Counsel in the Trump Administration, but their relationship was “tumultuous” at best. Reince Priebus is the firm’s leader. He was Trump’s former chief of staff. The firm has also hired other lawyers who are linked to Trump. However, some of them no longer work there.
