What is the Process of Filing Bankruptcy with LifeBack Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota

At LifeBack Law we strive to make the process of filing a bankruptcy as stress free as possible. This is done in a few steps.

First, you will have either an in-person or virtual 30-60 minute free consultation with a licensed attorney. During the consultation the attorney will go through questions with you to figure out your situation. From there the attorney will go through your options and if bankruptcy is the best option, next steps.

After the free consultation, the next step is the review and sign appointment. This is a two hour appointment (either virtual or in-person) where you will review your case and sign the documents needed for your filing.

After the case is filed, next is your 341 hearing. This is typically the only hearing you will attend during the bankruptcy. It is a 7-10 minute hearing where the bankruptcy trustee assigned to your case will go through verification questions with you. Prior to the hearing your attorney will go through what to expect.

If you are in a chapter 7 after your 341 hearing you will wait for 60 days to receive your discharge. If you have other aspects of your case still open, like asset settlement, this will also be dealt with after the hearing. If you are in a chapter 13 case, your next step is a confirmation hearing. You typically will not need to attend this, but instead it will go by default. From there you will continue making your plan payments.

Finally, after discharge is the free 90 day credit repair program. This is where our credit repair specialist will walk through steps after bankruptcy to repair your credit.
