Venable LLP is Seeking a Patent Agent with Chemistry Background – IPWatchdog.com

Venable LLP’s Patent Prosecution and Counseling group seeks an experienced patent agent with a background in organic chemistry to join the group. Our Intellectual Property team is well-integrated across the firm’s offices and this opportunity is open to candidates in the Washington, D.C. (preferred), New York (preferred), Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco markets.  This is a full-time, permanent position.

Qualifications Required:

The qualified candidate has two to five years of experience with patent prosecution, at USPTO or in a law firm, with excellent academic credentials, strong writing skills, and sharp analytical ability. Industry experience is a plus.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or similar specialties; other specialties or an M.S. with appropriate experience may be considered.

Qualified candidates must show competence in understanding chemical structures and properties. PTO registration is strongly preferred, though technical specialists with appropriate experience and the ability to sit for the patent bar will be considered.
