UAIP is Hiring a Visiting Assistant Research Professor

UAIP is hiring a Visiting Assistant Research Professor. This is a one-year fellowship, renewable for a second year. The job is an entry level position ideal for a recent law grad who wants to work in IP law policy. The Fellow will have an opportunity to deeply engage with current IP law and policy issues and to develop a network with IP lawyers and policy experts.

Job Description Summary:

At the direction of the IP Center’s faculty, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with faculty to design and execute studies on major legal and policy issues in intellectual property
  • Drafting research papers, policy briefs, essays, blog posts, and other relevant materials
  • Assisting with building the new IP Pro JD Program
    • Helping to recruit and coordinate mentors
    • Helping to organize programming for students in the program
    • Monitoring student progress through milestones and course requirements in the program
  • Identifying, securing, and supervising externships and other experiential opportunities for IP students
  • Assisting with planning and organizing academic roundtables, symposia, and other events and coordinating with attorneys and other expert participants
  • Monitoring and reporting on legislative, regulatory, and industry events and developments

The 2023 launch of our new IP Pro JD program will soon further enhance our strengths.

Required Qualifications: A JD or equivalent law degree

Preferred Qualifications: Background and interest in intellectual property law

Compensation: The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The University of Akron offers a competitive total compensation package comprised of a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits for eligible employees including medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, and paid leave of absences including time off for illness, vacation, and maternity or paternity leave. In addition, eligible employees and their dependents are provided tuition remission.
