The SCOTUS is ready to review DOL’s power to set minimum salary for overtime exemption

Allan bloom is a co-chairman of Proskauer’s Labor & Employment Law Department. He is a nationally recognized litigator, advisor, and represents employers, business owners and management on a wide range of employment and labour law matters. Allan Bloom has defended many leading companies in the world against claims of unpaid wages, discrimination in the workplace, breach of contract, and wrongful termination, in both trial and appellate courts, as well as arbitration, before government agencies and in private negotiations. He has obtained complete defense verdicts in front of juries as well as injunctions protecting clients’ confidential information and their assets. Allan’s views about wage and hour issues were featured in The New York Times and other leading publications. His class-action defense work for clients has saved billions of dollars in potential damages.

Allan is regularly called on to advise operating companies, management companies, fund sponsors, boards of directors and senior leadership on highly sensitive matters including executive and key person transitions, internal investigations and strategic workforce planning. He has a particular expertise in the financial service industry, where he litigated, arbitrated and mediated disputes over the past 20 years.

An author and speaker who is prolific, Allan was Editor of the New York State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Journal between 2012 and 2017. He has been a long-time pro bono attorney for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and The Public Theater. He is a past Vice Chair of Repair the World, a nonprofit organization that mobilizes volunteers and their communities to take action to pursue a just world, and a past recipient of the Lawyers Alliance Cornerstone Award for extraordinary contributions through pro bono legal services.

Allan is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and has been recognized as a leading practitioner by Chambers since 2011.
