The Ill fated SEC Climate Rule

On the 6th of March 2024, the SEC adopted the final rules to “enhance and standardize disclosures related to climate for investors.” These included, among others, requirements that material climate-related risk and related governance policies, practices, and mitigation and adaption activities, targets and goal, Scope 1 emissions reports, and financial statement effects related to severe weather events and natural conditions, as well as related costs and expenses.
