IPWatchdog’s Second Annual Meeting, LIVE 2022, Is Less Than Two Months Away

IPWatchdog’s Second Annual Meeting, IPWatchdog LIVE 2022 is less than two months away. Originally planned to start on March 16, 2020, we had to cancel our inaugural annual meeting when the pandemic shut the world down. We had no choice but to postpone the event on three separate occasions, but we were finally able to hold our first annual meeting, IPWatchdog LIVE 2021, on September 12-14, 2021. For the second year in a row, IPWatchdog LIVE 2022 will be held at the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel in Dallas, TX.

Although we started hosting live programs in 2018, the pandemic put a two-year rift in the development of our programs. As I speak to different firms and organizations about our programming, I always share with them the positive aspects of all of our programs. But recently, someone specifically asked me, “What makes IPWatchdog LIVE different?” As I began drafting my email response to this question, I realized that this was something I needed to share with all of our readers.

So, what does makes IPWatchdog LIVE different? Well, let me count the ways:

  1. Our publication, IPWatchdog.com has never participated in “Gotcha” politics. Over the years, we have interviewed many industry leaders and government officials, including Federal and District Court Judges, active and former Directors and Commissioners of the USPTO, and many others. Through these many interviews, we have built a reputation for being trustworthy and fair, and as a result are able to secure many high caliber individuals within the industry to speak at our programs. For example, we will be kicking off the event on Sunday, September 11, at 2:30 PM central time with a panel consisting solely of current and former Federal and District Court judges. The panel, “Litigating in Texas: A Judge’s Perspective,” includes:
    1. Judge Alan D. Albright – Judge on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas
    2. Judge Sean D. Jordan – Judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas
    3. Judge Ryan T. Holte – Judge on the United States Court of Federal Claims
    4. Judge David Folsom – Former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas
    5. Judge Randall Rader – Former Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
  2. We do not participate in pay to play. Our speakers are by invite only; if they are recommended by our sponsors or other participants in the program, we make sure that they are what we call “Master Level” speakers who have the knowledge and expertise necessary to speak on the topic of their panel, are able to equally contribute to the conversations in which they are participating, and are able to answer any questions they receive during the panels.
  3. We understand that to have such high caliber speakers, we must respect their time. So, we do not require our speakers to submit articles before or after the program (although we welcome it should they wish to) and we do not require our speakers to submit PowerPoint presentations. In fact, unlike most programs out there, we encourage our speakers, NOT to have PowerPoint presentations at all. Rather, we prefer our panels to be more of a discussion, where those with expertise and similar interests get together and talk about something they are passionate about. All we ask of our panelists is they prepare in advance by discussing the topic at hand, what they’d each like to talk about during the discussion, and what they can or cannot talk about. Our panels are far more organic, and as a result, are far more interesting and engaging.

After years of attending programs all over the United States and talking with other attendees about what they did and did not like about each of the programs they have attended, IPWatchdog Founder and CEO Gene Quinn has made sure to incorporate those experiences into the building of our programs. When you attend IPWatchdog LIVE, we make sure that you are well taken care of.

  1. We know how important networking is for those who attend live events. So, we have made opportunities to network a priority at IPWatchdog LIVE–not just at the end of the day, but throughout the program itself. We have not only incorporated nine networking breaks into the agenda of the program, but we also close out all three nights of our program with a two-hour, open-bar networking cocktail reception, with live music and a ton of great food.
  2. You will never go hungry at an IPWatchdog event. We have snacks available during each of the networking breaks and we have a nice spread of food at our cocktail receptions (after all, for many of us, that will be our dinner for the evening). But we also have two two Sponsored Lounges (the LexisNexis Lounge and the IP.com Lounge), where you can sit down in comfy seating, make a phone call, and grab a snack.
  3. We also make sure you never have to be on your feet for long. Like many programs, we have tables and chairs in all the session rooms. But unlike most programs, we hold our two-hour cocktail receptions where we have our general sessions and meals. So, you can grab a drink, a snack, and a seat with a group of colleagues with whom you wish to network.
  4. Finally, like most programs, we do have Exhibitor Booths available at IPWatchdog LIVE. However, we offer only prime exhibitor space, where our Exhibitor Booths are right in the middle of everything. Not only do the attendees walk through the exhibitor space to register, have breakfast and lunch, and to go from session to session, but all our networking breaks take place right in the center of where the exhibitor booths are located.

Our philosophy has always been that “content is King”, and that will show clearly at IPWatchdog LIVE 2022. With A+ speakers, a focus on exceptional networking opportunities, and top-level content, we will create a center of gravity to attract the IP community. IPWatchdog LIVE 2022 is a program you won’t want to miss!

It’s not too late to join us this year. Early Bird Tickets to the event are available through July 31, 2022. We also offer In-house Counsel and Government Discounts, as well as group discounts to organizations who wish to send multiple people to the program.
