Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig is a successful, fast-growing, veteran-owned law firm with more than 80 outcome-focused attorneys advising and representing national and international legal matters. The firm is currently seeking a full-time Patent Attorney with 0-2 years’ experience in its Leesburg, VA, or Chicago, IL, offices, although remote work from anywhere in the USA is possible. Substantial and meaningful client contact almost from day one.
Primary Responsibilities:
Preparation and prosecution of patent applications, which the firm will back with strong staff support and robust backend tracking systems.
Rare among entry-level positions, this position will be client facing immediately, after a short training period. Attorneys take on all responsibility (supervised and mentored when needed) for ushering new and existing clients through their patent application process, from client intake through review of prior art searches and draft illustrations, to drafting of provisional and nonprovisional applications, office action responses and USPTO appeals.
Qualifications Required & Preferred:
- Strong organizational and communication skills required.
- Strong attention to detail required. Double checks the accuracy, formatting, and grammar of written communications while handling confidential information sensitively and discreetly.
- Educational attainment and/or experience in either computer software, chemical engineering, or both is preferred.
- Ideal candidate should have 0-2 years of patent preparation/prosecution experience.
- MUST be USPTO registered.
- MUST be admitted to any State Bar.
