Arnold & Porter is Seeking an IP Docketing Specialist – IPWatchdog.com
The Practice Support Services Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a full-time, permanent Intellectual Property (IP) Docketing Specialist in the Washington, DC office. The IP Docketing Specialist is responsible for assisting the IP Docketing Manager in facilitating actions required to efficiently operate the IP Docketing department by performing the day-to-day duties and functions relating to supervising the patent and trademark prosecution dockets.
Duties Include:
- Docketing all incoming domestic and foreign patent and trademark prosecution correspondence.
- Processing accurate data input of deadlines and other relevant docket information into the Clarivate/CPA Global Inprotech system.
- Reviewing the accuracy of USPTO communications and other documents (e.g., correctness of inventor names, filing dates, priority applications) and directing attorneys’/law clerks’ attention to errors requiring correction.
- Establishing future deadlines and alerting attorneys to deadlines as appropriate.
- Preparing, routing, and distributing weekly docket deadline information for domestic and foreign patent and trademark cases to designated recipients.
- Notifying and following up, as appropriate, with attorneys and other personnel regarding applicable deadlines to be cleared from dockets.
- Reviewing PTO filing receipts for accuracy, clearing the daily docket, and establishing the next set of status and/or deadline dates.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of two years of experience in support of patent and/or trademark prosecution practice.
- Prior experience with applications in technology in support of patent and trademark prosecution practices preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and administrative skills.
- Ability to respect, protect, and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Possess reliability, dependability, and motivation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting a strong attention to detail is paramount.
- Exceptional client service, both internal and external.
- Availability and willingness to work overtime hours, as necessary.
