Republicans: Slow down on tax cuts before they trip you up
Policymakers in the new Republican-controlled Congress have a problem. President Trump has hosted a series of meetings at Mar-a-Lago concerning the expiration of his 2017 taxA tax is a mandatory payment or charge collected by local, state, and national governments from individuals or businesses to cover the costs of general government services, goods, and activities.
There are many competing political priorities. The procedural differences are also challenging. Should Republicans push ahead with one bill to combine tax reform and Trump’s immigration, national security, and national security agendas? Two bills?With the focus on politics and procedures, the actual policy discussion suffers.
