What Does It Mean to Be a Leader at Lifeback Law Firm?
Recently, we gave a project to three LifeBack Lawyers to detail what a leader at LifeBack Law Firm looks like.
The list we received back illustrates wonderfully what a true leader at LifeBack Law Firm looks like. Look at this list and see if you agree:
- Talks directly to others to resolve issues rather than criticizing behind their back;
- Understands how to utilize constructive criticism in a kind and professional manner to help others improve;
- Recognizes their own faults and limitations and always strives for self-improvement, rather than accepting their flaws and resigning to poor performance or behavior;
- Always speaks and acts in a professional manner even in difficult or challenging circumstances;
- Controls their negative emotions (anxiety and anger) and maintains a cool temperament and demeanor, at all times;
- Understands that no person or situation is perfect and seeks positive resolutions to problems rather than complaining and putting others down;
- Never forgets that treating all employees with respect and dignity is of paramount importance and consistently strives to exude positivity and optimism rather than negativity;
And here is what the group came up with for characteristics of a poor leader:
- Gossips, disparages others, and talks behind people back;
- Reacts to situations impulsively or based on emotion, rather than based on common sense and practicality;
- Talks and behaves pessimistically and projects negative actions/emotions onto others and into the workplace;
- Makes rash decisions without first consulting their teammates that could have serious impact on others;
I could not agree with this more! Simply put, at LifeBack Law Firm if you behave like a leader, you can work at this firm. If, however, you choose to behave like a poor leader, you cannot work here. Our firm culture is designed to protect and promote the dignity of all staff and all clients. Poor leaders cannot do this. That is why they cannot work for LifeBack Law Firm. True leaders, on the other hand, promote the dignity of their teammates and clients and are exactly who the firm desires to have work for it.
